About the company
Inverters and battery storage for solar and wind
What began in two small rooms next to a bathhouse is today one of the world’s largest suppliers of inverters and battery systems. Storage is now its biggest source of revenue. To prove its safety, Sungrow set fire to 20 MWh of its own batteries: the fire did not spread to the neighbouring units.
Sungrow Power Supply makes solar inverters, battery energy-storage systems, wind converters and hydrogen electrolysers. Founded in Hefei in 1997 by Cao Renxian, it reported 2025 revenue of RMB 89.18 billion. Storage made up 41.8% of sales after 43 GWh of system shipments, and 60.5% of revenue came from overseas markets. The company has applied for a Hong Kong listing.
In Belgium, Sungrow supplied 320 battery containers for Engie’s battery park in Vilvoorde (200 MW / 800 MWh). European headquarters in Munich, first European factory in Poland.
