BYD’s Hefei base in Xiatang Town, Changfeng County, builds new-energy vehicles as well as engines, electric motors and drive assemblies. Production began in June 2022 with the Qin PLUS DM-i after a first-phase investment of RMB 15 billion. In 2023 the plant built 486,000 vehicles, about 65% of Hefei’s NEV output, and in 2024 it became the city’s first carmaker with annual output value above RMB 100 billion.
